3 Quick Tips To Turn Your Hobby Into A Career

Let’s be honest, most of us only have a few hours a week that we can devote to our and passions if we are currently in full-time work.  What if you could transform your career into a business and quit your job in the process?

Most of us only have a few hours a week that we can devote to our pastimes and passions. What if you could transform your career into a business and quit your day job in the process? Four entrepreneurs share their best advice on moving from passionate hobbyist to successful business owner.

1. PREPARE TO PUT THE WORK IN

There is an old saying: if you enjoy your job, you’ll never work a day in your life. Contrary to popular opinion, in reality, things are not always this simple. Work always must be done regardless. Sadly, just because your business is based on what your passionate about it does not mean things are going to automatically take off. It doesn’t necessarily mean it will be enjoyable or fulfilling either. Your passion is a business which means you should treat it like one if you want it to be successful.

2. FIND A NEED / SOLVE A PROBLEM

This is something we have talked about on previous blogs, and we cannot stress it enough!

It just being a passion is not enough. Your passion/hobby must solve a problem. Solving problems builds your customer base. Your ability to solve these problems effectively and consistently is what will keep your customer base loyal.

3. BE AUTHENTIC

Sounds cliche but it really applies here. Be true to yourself and be true to your business and personal brand. Authenticity is true originality. Even scientifically, it’s important to remember there is no one like you. There may be other similar businesses, similar perspectives but there is no one like you. There is great power knowing and internalising this truth. Focus on maintaining your integrity and authenticity. This way you can grow authentically. The more time you dedicate in trying to be somebody or something that you are not, the more potential stress you can potentially create in trying to “keep up appearances”. Trying to keep up appearances takes extra work and energy. Even from an economic perspective this extra work and energy is actually better spent actually growing your business authentically. Being authentic is actually another way to create your niche…and all you need to do is be YOU.

Hope you find these tips constructive. Work hard, solve problems and Be authentic!

Be well and good luck!
